Disco dancer

In this exercise you will create an animation of a dancer complete with flashing disco lights.


NOTE: You can use any version of Scratch.

 

Complete these steps ..

 

1. Open Scratch, OR create a new game (from the top menu choose "File>New").

 

 

2. Download, save and then open this game file ..

 

 

3. Select the stage and add this code/scripts ..

 

 

 

4. You are going to make the dancer appear to dance by changing costumes and moving. We'll also add a graphic effect (Fish-eye).

Select the dancer sprite and add this code/scripts ..

 

Notice how the first repeat loop moves the dancer in one direction and the second moves him back to where he started.

 

Press "B" to test your game.

When you are ready press "E" to end your game and continue working on it.

Experiment with the "repeat", "move" and "fish-eye" values until you get an effect you like.

 

 

5. Select the "disco ball 1" sprite and then add this code/script to it ..

6. Select the "disco ball 2" sprite and then add this code/script to it ..

 

Press "B" to test your game.

When you are ready press "E" to end your game and continue working on it.

 

 

7. Use the File menu to save your game. Call it "Disco dancer v1" ..

 

 

8. Select "spotlight 1" and add this code/scripts to it ..

 

Press "B" to test your game.

When you are ready press "E" to end your game and continue working on it.

 

 

9. Select "spotlight 2" and add this code/scripts to it ..

 

Press "B" to test your game.

When you are ready press "E" to end your game and continue working on it.

 

 

10. Finally, drag the disco floor sprite to the bottom of the stage and add this code/script to it ..

 

Press "B" to test your game.

When you are ready press "E" to end your game and continue working on it.

 

 

11. Use the File menu to save your game.

 

 

12. You're finished. Well done.
