Scratch exercise 07

Duplicate (copy) a sprite and a script

Complete these steps ..


1. Create a new game. Either open Scratch or if it is already open choose "File>New" ..



2. Re-name sprite1 "Mr Cat 1".



3. Right click on the Mr Cat 1 icon in the sprite area and select "duplicate" to copy the sprite ..



4. Select the new sprite and re-name it "Mr Cat 2".



5. Select Mr Cat 1 again ..

Add these scripts to Mr Cat 1 ..



6. Press "B" to begin your game. Mr Cat 1 should move but Mr Cat 2 should stay still.

Press the "E" key to end/ (stop) your game.



7. Select Mr Cat 1. Click on the word "when" of the "when B key pressed" script and drag it onto the Mr Cat 2 thumbnail under the stage ..

Select Mr Cat 2 and you should see that the script has been copied from Mr Cat 1.



8. Change the numbers in the "go to x y" script to these ..



9. Test your game by pressing the "B" key on your keyboard. Mr Cat 1 and Mr Cat 2 should walk in opposite directions.

Press the "E" key to end your game.



10. Go to "File > Save as" and save your game. Name it "Walk and bounce"
